Very interesting comment from someone named Michael to this Times Herald Record story - says it all:

Last Thursday, I had an appalling experience I thought never could happen in the United States.

I was one of a small group of Congresswoman Hayworth's constituents that was prevented from entering into her district office building in Fishkill.  Ironically, we were there to deliver a letter, expressing our disappointment that Hayworth had not held a single town hall during the August Congressional recess and inviting her to the town hall we have organized for her so that her constituents could ask her questions.

Yesterday, a group of us talked with voters in the local Election District in Bedford, where Nan Hayworth lives and votes. What we heard from her neighbors was that they were overwhelmingly opposed to her repeated - three times! - votes against Medicare and her consistent voting record against the interests of the middle class and the general health of our economy.  Her neighbors are outraged that, as she was selling out the ordinary residents of her district, she was just as consistently voting to protect tax breaks for millionaires and taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil and Gas.

What kind of person is so lacking a conscience that she can speak in front of a group of dedicated people whose goal in life is to provide healthcare to those in most need in our community, after she, in vote after vote, has done all that she can to deny their funding?

She isn't the kind of person we want to represent us in the 19th CD.

Considering that we've been waiting patiently for our Nan's views since we posted the last entry, imagine our excitement when Dr. H announced that - ta da - she was unveiling a new website. Certainly, now we would get insights on her views, so we eagerly went to her Congressional website.

She promises not only her views but - look at this - solutions!.

Click on Solutions. We see -  Issues and Legislation: National Defense & Iraq; Healthcare; Energy & Environment; Veterans, Education - it goes on and on!

Nan Hayworth needs to go back to school - Schoolhouse Rock, that is.

She followed the Republican leadership (would she follow them over a cliff?) and voted in favor of the Government Shutdown Prevention Act  which would "declare the House-passed spending bill, H.R.1, to be enacted if the Senate does not pass a FY2011 spending bill by April 6."

Why the Mean Season of Budget Cuttting is Contrary to our Deepest National Values - As Exemplified in the Preamble to Our Constitution

Looks like Nan Hayworth is getting caught in her own double talk – the New York Times reports in “District Liked Its Earmarks, Then Elected Someone Who Didn’t” that our newly minted Congresswoman believes that even important and needed projects in her district are not worthy of her time or effort on our behalf.

According to Hayworth, funding for these projects should be taken care of by some vague “other authority” and not by “federal dollars”. Huh? Didn’t you and I pay in those “federal dollars” out of our hard earned income? Isn’t it OUR money?
